Sunset after rainstorm. From Cambie bridge

Between February 4th to February 28th Vancouver's sky over English Bay was transformed by an interactive art display known as Vectorial Elevation. The robotic spotlights could be programmed to execute various patterns submitted by people through the <a href="http://www.vectorialvancouver.net/home.html">Vectorial Vancouver</a> website. Unfortunately I was only able to photograph the display once during its live operation. There were at least two other vantage points I would like to have captured Vectorial Elevation from.

A few extra shots taken at this action by anti-Olympic activists on the first day of athletic competition at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games follow. I've added them to a larger set already uploaded to my photostream.

Was at the Vancouver Conservatory with Santiago today. Here are some pics of some of the amazing wildlife and flowers they have in there.

In the days of yore, when freight largely done via sail or riverboat, the arrival of a vessel was often a celebratory occasion. Today, a diesel-electric train passes with hardly any fanfare. Though on this day, at least two people paused to take notice. Canadian National 5527 rolled by with the horn blaring and the thunder of hundreds of tons of steel.

Actually, there are four modes of transportation here, as people are walking on the distant shore. A very patient photographer could wait here and get an aircraft for an additional dimension.

Cherry (Genus Prunus) blossoms appear to tumble out of this tree on a cool, cloudy late-winter day in Vancouver, BC. The early bloom of 2010 has been one full of splendor.
