Springtime in January!
View Large on black or huge!
Vancouverites are surely scratching their collective heads at the warmer temperatures and unusual rainfall lows. While our standard climate seems to be on (permanent?) vacation, I've been enjoying the best of what climate change has to offer: t-shirts with summer pants and evening walks around the 'hood. Okay, well not as a regular thing, not yet. Perhaps we should all wait until after the Winter Olympics conclude before officially declaring Spring.
Yet again, I've been swamped as usual with school assignments. Fortunately, this 4th and final term of my program allows me to customize my assignments and basically shoot whatever I choose. For this project, I scouted a number of different locations around the city. I had previously shot a 12-frame panorama from Charleston Park (across from David Lam Park), but unsatisfied I scurried out with my gear last Tuesday when the weather broke to capture the Burrard Inlet in a typical, April climate.
This was humbly shot using my Nikon D90 @ 24mm, tonemapped using Photomatix Pro, and stitched and edited using Photoshop. The file I used for printing was 1.5GB and 14880 pixels wide! This was printed 5 feet long for my assignment. I still have some minor edits and changes to make before I reprint it, but I wanted to put it online to see what everyone thinks first!
Guess Where Vancouver: Where was this shot from?

I bet this would be an awesome rooftop to chill and relax on during the summer.
Perhaps submitting it to the guess where vancouver group is a little tough, so I'll give a hint. It's in Gastown.
