Quite enough! When it's all in the family, things are fairly calm but let a couple of kids from another tribe slink over and.....plug your ears! I don't even want to guess what's being said in the growls!

Once Upon a Time….

Once Upon a Time....

A little year-old swan was rescued by the SPCA in Victoria, BC where she had been caught as a baby and penned in a corner of a barn on a concrete floor for a year. She was brought to Lost Lagoon where she discovered the joy of open water for the first time! Alas....Tristan (same age) was beside himself with delight to have someone even lower in the pecking order than he was at the time, and he bit her and chased her out of the water. She retreated to the grass slope where we 'babysat' the terrified little swan to ensure she wasn't pestered by kids and dogs passing by. She huddled there until evening.

At the end of a very long day, she finally went back to the water, and Tristan decided to allow her in. Well! He must have figured out, "Ohhh...it's a GIRL - Cool!" because the next morning saw them just a tiny bit closer. Two days later, they preened happily together and by the end of the week, they were "making hearts" and have been closest mates ever since.

Of course she was named Isolde and today, they are the "king and queen" of Lost Lagoon, featured in so many other shots in my Photostream.
